Holidays, Ear Infections, Tubes, Army Crawling and Pulling Up

I am very behind in updating the blog, but I am going to try to catch up.

Things have been a little crazy the last couple months.  I started working 3 days a week and Wyatt started daycare 3 days a week.  As soon as he started daycare he started getting sick, each week he came home with a new illness and was so kind as to share it with everyone.  He first got a cold virus, he was still happy and sleeping with this one, then he got a stomach virus, that one was pretty nasty.  It went through the whole family, plus the grandparents, basically anyone that was at our house picked it up.  During this time he also got double ear infections.  He was still sleeping pretty well, so I didn't even know that he was sick.  He was very different than Logan was with his infections.  He would wake up but be happy and usually go back to sleep.  So we started on meds, couple weeks later and 4 meds we still had ear infections and had also picked up a respiratory virus which was causing Wyatt to wheeze.  So we started breathing treatments and got the rocephin shot which didn't clear it up either.  He got 3 of those shots and we went to see the ENT.  We got into the ENT on the Friday before Christmas and he got tubes the Monday after.  It was the same week, at the same surgery center that Logan got his 2 years ago.  The breathing treatments helped and he got over that respiratory virus also.

He did great in the surgery, only took a few minutes like Logan's.  His doctor said she got all the fluid out, that it was like rubber cement and she used an adult suction tube.  But his ears were still infected.  So we did ear drops for 3 days, plus Zythromax.  He was great that day, very happy, but the next 2 he was very fussy.  So called the ENT and told me to use the drops for another week.  So did that and he started sleeping better, but as soon as I stopped, he got fussy again, not sleeping, etc.  So went to our pediatrician and she checked him out.  One ear was clear, but the other was still infected and the tube was clogged.  So back on medication, Augmentin, the only one he hadn't taken yet.  And on ENT orders, we have to put drops of peroxide in his ear to try to clear out the tube and then more drops.  So 10 days of this and hopefully it will finally be cleared.

During this time Wyatt has also started army crawling, been doing this for a few weeks and he is getting faster.  In the past week he has learned to get up on his hands and knees but can't quite figure out how to move forward.  He also loves to stand and wants to pull up, but hasn't quite made it.  Last night I sat him by his toys when the boys and I got home and I went to the bathroom with Logan.  When Logan went back into the living room he told me to come see that Wyatt stood up by himself!  Went in there and he was standing, almost doing the splits, holding on to his piano!  He hasn't done it again yet, but we haven't been home for long for him to try.  So we will see how often he does this!  Now the toys I put on the ottoman for Logan are not going to be safe for long.  He already is more interested in Logan's toys than his.  Logan is sometimes good and sometimes not so good at sharing.  Trying to teach him if he takes a toy from Wyatt, he has to go get him another one.  Trying to keep the small pieces away from Wyatt is also going to be hard, Logan is learning quick which things he can and can't "chew on" as he puts it!

Last weight Wyatt was 21lbs 10oz, fully clothed at the doctor.  Have another month to know what it really is, but he wasn't eating much when he was sick, but now he is making up for it.  He has really figured out baby food and enjoys it.  He isn't really catching on to puffs yet, getting things in his mouth, but I'm sure he will soon figure that out too.

Other than him getting a new virus again at daycare last week, he is doing good!  Hopefully he gets over it quick and doesn't pick up anything else this week!
